Today is all about the number 5 today even thought it’s November 9th! The number five holds a large significance today in my life. It was five years ago when Dustin and I became a exclusive couple after couple weeks prior to meeting each other at South Dakota State University, and more specifically at a rodeo dance.

This photo was taken the week after we met.

These past five years have been wonderful and on top of that we got married in June which this month will signify our 5 month anniversary. I know it sounds cheesy! But, being together for 5 years and recently getting married, we are continuing to learn more about each other each and every day!

And 5 years later, we are happily married!

So happy 5 today! I’m excited for the many years ahead as we continue to grow together!

I think Fall is my favorite season of the four. I love watching the leaves turn color. I love decorating my home with fall items to make it more cozy. I love the cool nights that allow me to cuddle up on the sofa and watch my favorite sitcom. Most importantly, I love fall baking because it leads me right in to Christmas baking! There are more reasons why I love this season, but I think I will just stop right where I am at.
Last night, my husband and I were able to do something together for the first time as a married couple. Carve pumpkins. I haven’t carved a pumpkin in ages. I did kind of cheat this year because I purchased a carving set and outlines at Hobby Lobby over the weekend. Dustin made a scary pumpkin. I honestly don’t know what you call the guy and I carved an alien. Let’s just say, Dustin won the pumpkin carving contest.

Ta Da, Dustin’s masterpiece!

My alien creation!
Since we didn’t have actual candles, Dustin improvised and used our dining room light to get the full effect. All together now, Ohhh, Ahhh!
Once we got our pumpkins all done, I baked our pumpkins seeds thanks to Food Network for an easy recipe in this month’s magazine.

I would like to mention about this past weekend too. I was able to have a girls day and we sure went all out! My coworker Codi, her dear friend Mary and I went to a concert. It just wasn’t a concert, the main performer-well I like everything about her-she’s amazing…Miranda Lambert! So here is what you missed:

The Randy Rogers Band opened for Miranda Lambert. A very good group I must say.

Justin Moore was there too!
Oh wait, look who I ran into. My other coworker and dear friend Mary!

Oh yes, she’s the real deal! My dream is to play a pink guitar like her!

And she even brought the Pistol Annies-a new group and they are amazing!
And we all I had a great time! Thanks for the ladies day, gals!

So there you have it! This weekend, I will be sure to have some more exciting things to tell you about as Dustin and I are heading to SuFu (short for Sioux Falls) to see my family-since its been long overdue! We are going to be taking in a Augustana Football (my sister-in-law’s brother starts for them) and it will be exciting to see everyone again.

Vacation Over…

To catch up on things, June 25 was the day I married my best friend and true love, Dustin! It’s been a long time coming since we were engaged for little over 2 years. The day was perfect–the weather was sunny and partly cloudy and many family and friends celebrated with us. After the wedding, we shipped out on an Alaskan cruise for a week. We finally have arrived back to Philip, SD last night.

I will post photos soon probably after I get back from my dearest friend’s wedding. That’s right, I leave again tomorrow night to help her celebrate her wedding on Saturday! I can’t wait for her wedding! She has been one of my best friends since we were youngsters in 4-H!
Well with that, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Shout out to Daddy…

Good morning everyone on this beautiful Sunday day! I’m nestled up on the couch with a cup of coffee and watching the Glee Project on TV. I have a feeling this day is going to be one relaxing day, which I’m not going to complain because yesterday the house got cleaned.

But today, I want to take this time to honor my papa! It’s Father’s Day today and it’s a day to recognize the love that fathers give to their family. My father is extraordinary! For the past 24 years of my life, my dad has been there to pick me up when I have fallen, has instilled values and beliefs into me, and most important has always said to be yourself and not change for someone.

How does the saying go? You’re always daddy’s little girl? I believe that I’m daddy’s little girl regardless that I can mom all the time! I remember the many times working cattle and sure I never knew where to be half the time, but dad would place me a spot and tell me not to move. Also, the many times we halter broke calves. I think that was the moment when I became tough because you can only get kicked a few times, head butted by a calf or endure many rope burns.

There have been a few disappoints throughout life, like running the the 3-wheeler into a group of pallets in the middle of the driveway and flipping it or that time that I have backed many vehicles into well-established buildings or grain wagons.

But throughout my life, I believe that I have been the best daughter my papa has asked for. And, I couldn’t ask for a more amazing, loving, caring, supportive, unselfish, hardworking, and nurturing father to walk me down the aisle on Saturday to give me away to my best friend and to his new son-in-law. But, I always remain daddy’s little girl!

So, Happy Father’s Day daddy! You deserve a day to relax because this days is about you! See you Wednesday! Love you!

Happy ‘Chocolate’ Friday…

That’s right…I’m blogging for the second day in a row! Very unusual, I know, so don’t get use to it! I had to blog because it’s Friday and I had to end this week on a good note…especially if there is chocolate involved!
I just have to say it: Dove Chocolate, I love you too! Thank you for writing thoughtful messages in your wrappers. I just want to keep eating chocolate to find out what advice you are going to give me next, but that would hurt my waistline!
These are my two personal favorites:
Yes chocolate brings good things to life, so therefore you’re allowed to do nothing! What perfect pair!

Have a wonderful weekend! And remember, regardless of your busy schedule, you’re allowed to do nothing because Dove Chocolate told you so!
